Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine

ICL is a public research university specialising in science, engineering, medicine and business. It has around 13,500 full-time students and 3,330 academic and research staff and has had a total income of £822 million in 2012/13, of which £329.5 million was from research grants and contracts. It is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world, ranking 2nd in the 2014/15 QS World University Rankings, 10th in the 2013/14 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and 22nd in the 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities. There are currently 15 Nobel Prize winners and two Fields Medal winners amongst Imperial's alumni and current and former faculty.  It is a member of the G5, the IDEA League, the League of European Research Universities and the Russell Group. The Department of Computing ranked 2nd UK-wide in the Government rating system for the most recent RAE (2008), and highest rating previously (2001). Its main research areas are computer systems, human-centred computing, logic & artificial intelligence, theory of computational systems, quantitative analysis & optimisation, distributed software engineering and visual information processing.
